By March 2010, Lady Gaga
stated that she had begun to work on her upcoming studio album and already finished writing its core theme.
Three months later, she stated that her second studio album was pretty much finished. She remarked, "It came so quickly. I've been working on it for months, and I feel very strongly that it's finished right now. Some artists take years. I don't. I write music every day."
Lady Gaga announced the title of the album, Born This Way, during her acceptance speech for Video of the Year at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. With two tracks already confirmed by Gaga, one she has been performing during The Monster Ball Tour, Born This Way is scheduled for release in early 2011 with February of that year seeing the release of the album's lead single.
Upon description of the album, she has referred to it as "the greatest album of [the] decade" about "what keeps us up at night and what makes us afraid" and likened it to "bad kids going to church" that are "having fun on a high level".
Lady Gaga characterized her new music as "something so much deeper than a wig or lipstick or an outfit" and upon hearing it, Akon remarked that she will take music to the "next level".
In an interview with RIA-Novosti news agency, Ralph Simon confirmed that Born This Way will be multi-lingual: including songs in six different languages. Confirmed languages are her native English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Hindi and Russian.
