Apple already a running version of OSX working on existing ARM like the secret version of Intel OSX they 'announced' at switch.
I'm more inclined to believe that Apple have a back up version of ARM compatible OSX working in their labs and this the reason for the rumour of a possible change.
But I'd put money on Intel keeping the gig.

Wow, why all the hatin'? This is what they did before. This is the way things are headed. I see another sub $1000 just like the iBook, that's a given. I'm hoping for a cheaper one, but not expecting it for awhile. Could be months, could be years. But as prices drop, it will happen. It's only a matter of time.The iBook never went under $999. I dont understand the point of this. Is storage really an issue on peoples computers? I understand the mobile app, but why not just store the files locally?

Come on - there will be an iPhone 5 in July. That's the customer expectation and if they did NOT release it then, their stock price would suffer and they would certainly lose market share to the newer phones. They are already somewhat behind newer phones that have much larger screens, faster processors, better cameras, etc - no way they wait until next year or even winter 2011. They will find component supplies and keep on track.

Could the thinner profile be a result to full integration of "Light Peak" fiber optics? I know some state that "Light Peak" is only beneficial to external devices and limited to a mini-DisplayPort connection. However, Intel has tested "Light Peak" as a replacement for internal components, replacing the need for multiple controllers such as built-in USB/FireWire/Display connections. It's been mentioned that "ThunderBolt" will handle USB 3.0 with the new Sandy Bridge logic board/chips due out. SATA drives currently offer 3/Gbps but with the advent of SSD's, slimming down the guts with a full "Light Peak" system that runs most components would make sense no?
(and AMEN to Apple getting slightly back on track with their Professional line, now just focus on a dedicated ACD line instead of a stripped down 27" iMac LED LCD panel and for god's sake extend the cables for the current display to reach Mac Pro's!)

Funny to see you are basing a $4000 computer purchase on a $79 piece of crap-KEA furniture - LOL.
I live in a teeny apartment, so even if I pitched the wardrobe I'd likely still be space constrained in whatever I replaced it with. Also, getting rid of furniture and installing new furniture is an enormous PITA - especially when your existing $799 wardrobe is still in great condition.
And you can get a pretty sweet Mac Pro for around $2K. All I'd need for the next few years, anyhow.
Also, shrinking the Mac Pro would cut down on the space it takes to store inventory at Apple stores, and reduce shipping costs by slashing both the weight and volume of the product. It would make the product more price competitive and/or more profitable.

Good... there are a few things about iOS/iPhones that I don't like at all and that boil down to decisions by Apple and their partners to place limits where I don't think they need to be.
Hopefully Apple starts to understand that these things matter and that they need to give people what they want.

I've said all along the imac will get conroe. With woodcrest in the mac pro, I'd say it's pretty well guaranteed. The imac only got a laptop processor because it was the only choice. From here on out it'll get the desktop processor it deserves.
I also think the macbook will get merom sooner rather than later. The two lines will still be differentiated by size, screen res, casing, backlit keys, dedicated graphics, and express card slot. The macbook needs to compete against PC laptops, not the macbook pro. The processors will pretty similar on the G4 laptops before intel (1.33/1.42 for the ibook, 1.5/1.67 for the powerbook) and yet there were still plenty of compelling reasons to go for the powerbook. Same thing still applies.
Your rock solid reasoning has won me over. I wasn't sure about what chips would be used where, but I think you have me convinced.
I just hope the Mini sees an upgrade relatively soon inasmuch as the phantom mid-range tower has yet to materialize. I may have to break down and get the Yonah one.

It is more conceivable that it would have a Blu-Ray ROM drive in a mobile, which would also help in starting the downward trend in price of the blue laser diodes. And basically, it seems more useful to have the ability to play blu-ray movies than burn a 25GB disc at that price and speed. Personally, of course, I don't see the Blu-ray thing happening this update but I do think that Apple wants to be a leader in this regard.
The DVD-burning SuperDrive was always something that Apple touted as being ahead-of-the-curve when introing it in the PowerMacs - of course, it took them a while to integrate it into the Titaniums in a slot-load config. So yeah, thinking aloud here, but it ain't gonna happen until the Mac Pros start (at the very least) having a BTO option of a Blu-Ray ROM (but more likely a burner).What about the inclusion/release of Blu-Ray Drives?Why would they put Blu-Ray drives in? I've always thought virii has to be engineered under contract by companies making the "solutions" to them, there are far too many virii out there on a daily basis, to such an extent that it has to be developed on a full-time basis with some corporate involvement somewhere. There are a lot more things to do for kicks these days, other than write malware, you'd think people have better things to do, unless there is money in making them.
Take what you want from here (http://www.exploit-db.com/) and build your malware with this (http://www.metasploit.com/). Malware writers use the same software as security researchers.
It is actually pretty easy to do using sources for already known exploits; finding new exploits is the difficult part. Some of the exploits in an exploit database may not be patched. Others may be patched for up to date systems but are meant for those not getting updates (for example, because running pirated version of an OS).

Sure wish that if they push this thing in Japan. It could be huge here. With so many people putting iPods in their cars and with Navigation systems that broadcast TV and play DVDs, this could be the next best thing.

People think nothing of spending �200+ on an ipod - why would buying an ipod with intergrated phone features seem any different?? (if properly priced).
Also, with simply making the hardware apple can easily sell overseas - UK networks are GSM just like USA and the rest of Europe. They can mass produce one product and sell it at both sides of the Atlantic - then they can sign on with individual providers and sell the 'iphone' it the more traditional light with contracts.

I would really love to have a Mac Tablet. However, I don't see this happening anytime soon. But believe me, I would LOVE to have one.
